Your choices, and how to change them
The first time you visit, a banner asks what you are happy with. Accept all, Reject all and Manage choices are shown together and are just as easy to press as each other. There are two optional switches, Analytics and Advertising. Both are off until you turn them on, and you can say yes to one and no to the other.
To change your mind or withdraw at any time,select Cookie settings in the footer of any page. It takes the same one or two clicks as agreeing did, and you do not need to clear your browser's data.
When you withdraw, this is what happens straight away:
- Analytics: Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity stop collecting, and we remove their cookies from this site.
- Advertising:the Meta Pixel stops, we remove Meta's cookies and stored entries from this site, and our server stops sending anything to Meta.
- Google:Google is told your new choice at the same moment. See “How we pass your choice to Google” below.
One Microsoft cookie, CLID, is kept on Microsoft's own website rather than ours, so this site cannot remove it. Clarity is not loaded again on later visits once you have withdrawn.
If you say no, we will not ask you again for six months, unless we change what we use or why we use it. If you say yes, we check in again after six months too. Your choice is kept in the essential cookie zeba_consent, along with the time you made it and the version of the banner you saw. It holds no personal details.
How we pass your choice to Google
Google has a system called consent mode, which is how a website tells Google's tools what the visitor has agreed to. It uses four settings, each either “granted” or “denied”. We set them from your cookie choice and from nothing else:
- analytics_storage follows your Analytics choice.
- ad_storage, ad_user_data and ad_personalization follow your Advertising choice.
All four are “denied” when you arrive and stay denied until you choose. Nothing is sent to Google to set them up. If you accept Analytics or Advertising, Google Tag Manager then loads, with the four settings already in place. If you change your mind in Cookie settings, the settings change straight away. Google Tag Manager is never loaded if you reject all, and a browser that cannot show our banner (for example one with JavaScript switched off) never loads it either.
What runs before you choose
Until you make a choice, and for as long as you choose to reject, only the items marked “Yes” in the last column below are used. Nothing from Google (including Google Tag Manager), Microsoft or Meta is loaded, and the map on the Contact page waits until you press Show map.
