Who we are
This website is run by ZEBA HOME INTERIORS (LEEDS) LIMITED, trading as ZEBA Interiors. We are registered in England and Wales, company number 10486434. Our registered office is Unit 2, 202 Market Street, Shipley, West Yorkshire, BD18 2BY.
We are the “controller” of the personal information described here, which means we decide how and why it is used. You can reach us about anything in this policy at info@zebainteriors.co.uk or on 07982 778565 (Monday to Friday, 10am to 3pm).
What we collect, why, and our lawful basis
A “lawful basis” is the reason the law allows us to use your information. This table covers each way you can give us information, or we can receive it.
Swipe sideways to see every column.
| How it reaches us | What we collect | Why we use it | Our lawful basis |
|---|---|---|---|
| Book a consultation form | Whether you want to meet at our Shipley showroom or online; the service you are interested in; your budget range and timeline; your location and project details if you choose to give them; your full name, email address and phone number; and a tick to say you are happy for us to contact you about your enquiry. | To reply to your enquiry and arrange your consultation. | Taking steps at your request before a contract (UK GDPR Article 6(1)(b)). |
| Contact form | Your full name, email address, phone number (with its country code), your message, and a tick to say you are happy for us to contact you about your enquiry. | To read and reply to your message. | Legitimate interests: our interest in answering people who get in touch (Article 6(1)(f)). |
| Chat assistant (Maya) | Your name, and your phone number, email address and town or city if you choose to give them, plus the topic of the chat. If you give an email address we send you a confirmation email. The chat messages themselves stay in your browser and are not sent to us. | To follow up your chat and reply to you. | Legitimate interests: answering people who ask us for help (Article 6(1)(f)). |
| Newsletter sign-up (website footer) | Your email address, and a note that you signed up through the website footer. We send you a confirmation email, which has a link to unsubscribe. | To send you studio updates, project reveals and design notes. | Your consent (Article 6(1)(a)). You give it by subscribing and can withdraw it at any time with the Unsubscribe link in any newsletter email. |
| Visiting the website (everyone) | Your IP address and the details your browser sends automatically, such as the page you asked for, your browser and device type. We use your IP address, held only in temporary memory on our server and never saved to our database, to limit repeated form submissions. On our forms, Cloudflare Turnstile checks you are a person, and our own hidden checks (a hidden form field and a timer) catch automated spam. | To deliver the site, keep it secure and block spam. | Legitimate interests: running a secure website and preventing abuse (Article 6(1)(f)). |
| Analytics (only if you accept it) | How you use the site, for example the pages you view, how you arrived, where you click and scroll, and actions such as calling us or sending a form. Google and Microsoft also receive technical details your browser sends, such as your IP address and browser type, and set a cookie identifier. Microsoft Clarity also makes recordings and heatmaps of how people move around pages. | To understand which pages are useful and to improve the site. | Your consent (Article 6(1)(a)), asked for in the cookie banner. |
| Advertising (only if you accept it) | What the Meta paragraph below describes. Google Tag Manager also loads, so your choice reaches Google's tools. As with any file loaded from Google, Google then receives your IP address and browser type. | To measure how well our adverts on Facebook and Instagram work, and to improve them. | Your consent (Article 6(1)(a)), asked for in the cookie banner. |
| Remembering your cookie choice | Your choices, the time you made them and the version of the banner you saw, saved in a cookie in your browser. It holds no personal details. | To respect your choice and be able to show it was respected. | Legitimate interests: honouring your privacy choices (Article 6(1)(f)). |
The tick box on our forms records that you are happy for us to contact you about your enquiry. It is a record of your wishes. It is not the legal reason we rely on for replying to you.
Advertising and Meta
If you accept Advertising cookies, Meta (the company behind Facebook and Instagram) receives, from your browser and from our server:
- the pages you view and the actions you take: viewing a project or fabric page, clicking a phone or WhatsApp link, sending a consultation or contact enquiry, and joining our newsletter, along with the name of the project, page or service involved;
- technical details such as your IP address, browser, screen size, time zone and the address of the page you came from; and
- a Meta cookie identifier (called _fbp, and _fbc if you came from one of our adverts).
When you send an enquiry or join the newsletter, our server also sends Meta your email address and, where you gave them, your phone number, your first and last name and (on the contact form) your country. These are sent in scrambled form, called “hashed”. A hash is a one-way scramble: the same email address always gives the same string of letters and numbers, but nobody can turn that string back into the email address. Meta compares it with scrambled details it already holds, so it can match your enquiry to an advert you may have seen. A newsletter sign-up sends only your email address among the scrambled details.
We never send Meta the message, project details, budget, timeline or location you type into a form.
Meta's tracking tool can also collect extras by itself: details typed into forms, the label of each button you click, and the title and description of each page. We have switched these automatic features off in our website's code, so Meta receives only the information described above.
Meta uses this information to measure and show our adverts, under its own privacy policy: Meta's Privacy Policy. If you do not accept Advertising cookies, none of this is sent. You can change your mind at any time using Cookie settings in the footer.
Sending information outside the UK
Several of the companies above are based outside the UK or move information between countries, including to the United States. The safeguards that protect it when it travels are theirs to provide, and are explained in each company's own privacy policy, linked above.
How long we keep it
An automatic job runs every night and deletes the following from our database for good:
- Consultation requests and contact messages. The details you sent through the Book a Consultation form or the Contact form are deleted 24 months after we last had contact with you. If we have not been in touch since you sent the form, that is 24 months after you sent it.
- Chat enquiries. If you gave your details to our chat assistant (Maya), they are deleted 12 months after you gave them.
- Newsletter sign-ups.We keep your email address on the newsletter list until you unsubscribe. The automatic deletion does not apply to the list. When you use the Unsubscribe link in a newsletter email and press the Confirm button on the page it opens, your email address is deleted from the list straight away. We also receive a short notification email when someone signs up; like other emails in our inbox, it stays there until we delete it, and we will delete it on request. See “How to withdraw your consent” below.
- Emails about enquiries. The automatic deletion covers our database only. The emails we receive about an enquiry arrive in our inbox and stay there until we delete them.
- Your cookie choice. 182 days (about six months), then we ask again.
- Analytics and advertising cookies. For the lifetimes shown in our Cookie Policy. Google, Microsoft and Meta keep the information they receive for the periods set out in their own policies.
- Spam protection. Your IP address is held only in temporary memory on our server, to count repeated submissions. It is not saved to our database.
- The chat. The conversation is kept in your browser tab only, and goes when you close the tab.
You can ask us to delete your details sooner at any time. See “Your rights” below.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to:
- ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you (access);
- ask us to correct anything that is wrong or incomplete (correction);
- ask us to delete your information (deletion, also called erasure);
- ask us to pause our use of your information while a concern is looked at (restriction);
- ask for the information you gave us in a format you can reuse or pass on (portability); and
- withdraw your consent whenever our use of your information relies on it.
To use any of these rights, email info@zebainteriors.co.uk. We will reply within one month. We may need to check who you are first. You do not normally have to pay.
Your right to object
You have the right to object to our use of your information where our reason is “legitimate interests” (the rows marked that way in the table above). Tell us why, and we will stop unless we can show a strong reason that outweighs your interests, or we need it to deal with a legal claim.
You have an absolute right to object to direct marketing, such as our newsletter. If you tell us, we will stop straight away. To object to the newsletter, use the Unsubscribe link at the bottom of any newsletter email, or email info@zebainteriors.co.uk.
How to withdraw your consent
- Cookies: select Cookie settings in the footer of any page and turn Analytics or Advertising off. It takes effect straight away. See our Cookie Policy.
- Newsletter: use the Unsubscribe link at the bottom of any newsletter email. It opens a page with one Confirm button. Press it and we delete your email address from our list straight away, with no login. Many email apps also show their own Unsubscribe button next to our name, which does the same in one step, with no Confirm page. If you cannot find an email, write to info@zebainteriors.co.uk and we will remove you.
Withdrawing does not affect anything we did while your consent was in place.
Automated decisions
We do not make decisions about you using automated means, and we do not build profiles of you for ourselves. The only automatic checks are the spam checks described above, which look only at whether a form was filled in by a person. If you accept Advertising, Meta may use the information to decide which adverts to show, under its own policy.
Do you have to give us your details?
No. What you send us is your choice. But if you want us to reply, we need the details the form asks for so we can contact you. Without them we cannot reply.
Complaints
If you are unhappy with how we have used your information, please tell us first at info@zebainteriors.co.uk so we can put it right. We will acknowledge your complaint within 30 days.
You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at any time: Information Commissioner's Office, Wycliffe House, Water Lane, Wilmslow, Cheshire, SK9 5AF. Website: ico.org.uk. Telephone: 0303 123 1113.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top of the page shows when it last changed. If we change what we collect or why in a way that matters to you, we will say so on this page, and we will ask for your cookie choices again where the law requires it.
