Private Residence, London

The brief

A high-specification private home in London, where the client wanted bespoke furniture, custom curtains and handcrafted rugs across multiple rooms. In a project like this the brief is less a document than a conversation: the client had a clear sense of how they wanted the house to feel, and our job was to translate that into pieces that could actually be made.

Our approach

We worked room by room with the client rather than presenting a single fixed scheme. Every piece was specified and produced to measure, from hand-finished upholstered sofas to floor-length curtains. Making in our own West Yorkshire studio and installing with our own team meant the person who took the measurements and the people who made and fitted the pieces were working from the same information throughout.

Materials and fabrics

Fabric selection ran through our own library, including ranges from Designers Guild, Sanderson Design Group, Colefax and Fowler, Osborne and Little, Nina Campbell and Ralph Lauren Home. Curtains were made with hand-sewn headings, which hang and wear differently from machine-tape alternatives, and rugs were handcrafted to each room's dimensions rather than trimmed from stock sizes.

The result

The house reads as one interior rather than a collection of separate purchases. Because everything was made to measure, the pieces sit correctly in their rooms, and the finish reflects the level of attention the client asked for at the outset.
