Project Aluna Cocktail Bar

The brief

Aluna needed an interior capable of competing in a demanding hospitality market, where the quality of the room is as much a part of the experience as what is served in it. ZEBA was asked to design and produce custom banquette seating, bespoke soft furnishings and window treatments that would create atmosphere while surviving genuinely heavy use.

Our approach

Banquette seating drove the design. It sets the layout, the covers and the comfort of the room, so we designed and manufactured it to the specific dimensions of the space rather than adapting a standard unit. The aim throughout was an atmosphere that is intimate without being dark and distinctive without being loud, which is largely a question of restraint in the specification.

Materials and fabrics

Fabrics were specified for high-traffic hospitality: high rub counts, cleanable finishes and fire performance suitable for a licensed venue, in colours and textures chosen to work under low evening lighting. Seating was built on frames and foams specified for constant occupancy, since a bar banquette takes more wear in a year than domestic furniture takes in a decade.

The result

A bar interior that performs commercially as well as visually. The materials were chosen for durability as much as appearance, so the room holds its character through sustained trading rather than looking tired within a season.
