Bespoke Luxury Interior Design in West Yorkshire

18 February 2026 · 7 min read

Luxury interior design is not about the most expensive materials in the room. It is about decisions made with care, by people who understand the space, for a client whose life and taste are properly understood. From our studio in Shipley, West Yorkshire, we have spent over 20 years designing and making bespoke interiors that do exactly that, for homes across Leeds, Bradford, Harrogate, Ilkley and the wider region, as well as projects in Edinburgh, Glasgow, London and across England and Scotland.

This is a guide to how we work, who we work with, and why a local studio with its own making capability changes what is possible in a high end project.

What Bespoke Luxury Interior Design Actually Means

The phrase gets used loosely, so it is worth being precise. For us, a bespoke interior is one where the significant elements are designed and specified for your particular home rather than chosen from a range. The sofa is built to the proportions of your living room and the way your family uses it. The curtains are cut for your windows, interlined for your climate, and headed to suit the height of your ceilings. The upholstery, the joinery brief, the wall treatments and the soft furnishings are all developed together so that the finished room reads as one considered scheme rather than a collection of separate purchases.

Luxury, in this context, is the quality of thought and the quality of making. It is a fabric chosen because it will hold its colour and its shape in a south facing Yorkshire sitting room, not because it photographed well on a supplier's website. It is a frame built to last 25 years rather than five. It is the restraint to leave a room uncluttered so the few things in it can do their work.

Designing for Homes Across West Yorkshire

West Yorkshire gives us an unusual range of properties to design for, and that variety is part of what keeps the work interesting.

In Leeds and its suburbs, much of our residential work is in substantial period townhouses and newer high specification developments where owners want an interior that feels personal rather than developer standard. In Bradford and the villages around it, we work on family homes of every era, from Victorian stone houses to contemporary builds. In Harrogate, Ilkley, Wetherby and the Wharfedale villages, the brief is often a large family home or a country property where the architecture deserves an interior of the same standard.

Each of these places has its own character, and a luxury interior should respond to the house and its setting rather than impose a generic look. A stone built home near Ilkley asks for something different from a glass fronted new build outside Leeds. Designing locally means we can visit easily, take proper measurements, see the light at different times of day, and understand the context before we specify anything.

Why a Local Studio and Maker Matters

A great deal of interior design is project managed from a distance, with furniture ordered from suppliers and soft furnishings outsourced. That can work. But it puts layers between the design and the making, and every layer is a place where intent gets lost.

We are based at Unit 2, 202 Market Street in Shipley, and we have our own making capability. Curtains are cut and made up to our brief. Upholstered pieces are built to specifications we write ourselves, in fabrics chosen with you from our library. Because the studio and the workshop are close, we can inspect, adjust and stand behind the quality in a way that is far harder when production sits overseas or with an anonymous third party.

For you, the practical benefits are real. Shorter lines of communication. The ability to visit the studio, handle the fabrics, and see how materials behave at scale. Honest lead times, because we know what the making actually involves. And a maker close enough that, years later, a piece can be reupholstered or restored rather than replaced.

The Fabric Library

Clients who visit our Shipley studio almost always comment on the fabric library. We carry an extensive range from leading UK and European houses, across every weight, texture and performance grade.

The reason we encourage an in person visit is straightforward. A fabric chosen from a small sample or a screen is frequently regretted. The way a cloth moves, the way it takes the light, the way it sits against the other materials in a scheme, these things need scale and context to judge. A linen that looks modest on a card can transform a bedroom when it runs floor to ceiling. This is one of the genuine advantages of working with a West Yorkshire studio you can actually walk into.

How a Project Usually Runs

Most of our residential projects follow a similar shape. We begin with a conversation, ideally at your home or in our studio, to understand the brief, the budget and the way you live. We develop a scheme, select materials together, and agree specifications and timelines clearly before anything is confirmed. Then we make, install and see the project through to completion.

We work best when we are involved early, because decisions about furniture, window treatments and soft furnishings interact with decisions about flooring, lighting and wall finishes. It is far easier to coordinate these before installation than to work around choices already made.

Working Across England and Scotland

While our studio is in West Yorkshire, we take on projects throughout England and Scotland. In Edinburgh and Glasgow, we have worked on Georgian townhouses, contemporary apartments and commercial hospitality venues. In London, we work with residential clients who want a UK based studio that designs and makes to a high standard. Across the English regions, from the Cotswolds and the Lake District to Manchester, Bristol and Newcastle, we take on projects where the brief and the budget suit our way of working.

Scotland is one of our primary areas of focus outside Yorkshire. The range of property types there, from Edinburgh New Town flats to Highland lodges to Glasgow city centre developments, mirrors the variety we enjoy at home and presents some of the most interesting design challenges we encounter. Where projects require on-site visits in Scotland, we travel. The quality of work does not change with the distance.

Frequently asked questions

Do you offer luxury interior design in Leeds and Bradford?

Yes. ZEBA Interiors is based in Shipley, West Yorkshire, and we design and make bespoke luxury interiors for clients across Leeds, Bradford and the surrounding area, including Harrogate, Ilkley, Wetherby and the Wharfedale villages. Being local means we can visit your home, take accurate measurements and understand the space before specifying anything.

Where is your interior design studio based?

Our studio and fabric library are at Unit 2, 202 Market Street, Shipley, West Yorkshire, BD18 2BY. Clients across West Yorkshire, England and Scotland are welcome to visit by arrangement to see materials in person and discuss their project. We have operated from West Yorkshire for over 20 years.

Do you take on interior design projects across England and Scotland?

Yes. England and Scotland are our primary markets alongside West Yorkshire. We work in Edinburgh, Glasgow, London, Manchester, Bristol and across the UK. Because every piece is specified in detail before making begins, bespoke work travels well and distance changes the logistics rather than the quality.

What makes a bespoke interior different from buying off the shelf?

A bespoke interior is designed and made for your particular home. Furniture is built to your proportions and the way you live, curtains are cut and interlined for your windows, and the whole scheme is developed together rather than assembled from separate purchases. The result fits the space properly and is built to last, which off the shelf furniture rarely is.

Your perfect space starts with a conversation.
